Hi my names Jesse I live in the PNW and this is just a rundown of my soarer over the past 4 years. Chasing the feeling of an S chassis in a big Toyota coupe! (A guy can dream right?)
I bought it with coilovers, a two way, and an exhaust and it was great. But I wanted more so I swapped the steering wheel out for a Vertex/Nardi wheel, picked up a Recaro and some floor mats and swapped the wheels for VSKF's and lowered the coils. Was cool, but still not enough. So I swapped it to a single turbo and put it on an AEM ecu.
I ended up trading the VSKFs for some Kanseis (yeah yeah yeah) and some paint work on my car. Then I finally decided to take it to the track. That was the beginning of the end for keeping that car as a daily.
Shortly after this I started looking for a kit. Decided on Final Konnexion because it was funky looking. Shortly after I got out of the military and moved from Virginia to Washington.
Once I was there I traded the Kanseis for some Weds Kranze Bazreias.(W for me. Lol) After that I got the car painted (shout out Aaron Leavitt). Spent that whole winter/ spring/summer of 2021 at the track at least once a month, a lot of times twice.
Towards the end went to spirit peaks in southern Washington and absolutely obliterated half my kit.
Did some fixing and had it back together for a couple more drift days. Car wasnt wild enough for me yet. Picked up a BN type 1 hood and a B Wave wing for it. Tossed those on when they came a few months later. Got them paint matched and had a little craziness added (shout out Aaron Leavitt again) because I've always loved the bright in your face cars you see in places like Chiba. 1000 wheel swaps and a couple turbos somewhere in this story later this how it sits. More to come! :)
2024 updates:
Not much change just a couple odds and ends. Too busy with school. Picked up some modded knuckles from a Japanese shop called Eau Rouge. They’re a Soarer specialty shop responsible for some of the coolest z30 builds of the 2000’s . Hoping to get them put on and just get more track time!
Eau Rouge built 4Real works car for reference! One of my inspiration cars!
Figured I’d add some details about the engine work I’ve done so far. Originally when I did a single turbo swap I had a PTE5557 with a .63a/r housing on a completely stock non vvti 1jz. That made 330hp at the wheels on a mustang dyno at MRD in Virginia. I ran that set up for 2 years or so and the turbo developed a death whine after a track day where I may have hotlapped it 1 or 10 too many times. 😬 After that I decided to switch up to a PSR 3076 with a .82a/r housing. It made a little less power now around 320whp but it made more torque I believe ~15ftlbs more so overall feels much better. Ran this set up for a while and had an oil line melt and cause a fire at an open drift so took the car out of commission for a couple of weeks. Luckily it was minimal damage so it was easy to fix and I had the car back on the road in a week. Since I was now paranoid about it happening again I took the time to do a lot of heat management. Lasted a good 5 months or so and then the water pump said adios after I swapped the water for coolant for this winter. 😅 Went ahead and did a new water pump, a new timing belt and threw on a fluidampr and everything went pretty smooth. Started up and ran perfect first try (Zack you still owe me for the doubt. 😉). Engine wise that’s all for now. I have some 880cc injectors and a whole top feed set up for it but I’m pretty happy with the power levels right now so not in a hurry to put those in.
This thing fucks
Love the style of your car so much. That aero combo looks so unique
