Howdy, a long time vw kid, found drifting in like 2017, put together my e36 over the past 3 years and wanted a place to put it all.
Told myself I wouldnt put a drift car together until I had the money to really do it. And even with that, I didnt want to sink an astronomical amount of money either because my 9 other hobbies are equally as expensive.
Bought the car August of 2019, sold my T2 Westfalia to fund it. 1996 328i. 210,000 miles. Blown motor auto. 100% rust free. Bought like 3 parts cars worth of stuff for it; M3 suspension, Manual Swap etc. Kind of just hoarded parts for the car I got and then parked in the woods.
I started putting the car together mid covid since I had nothing better to do. Refreshed M52, getrag, M3 rear subframe and just about every possible bushing you could do from FCP euro.
This is the only photo I have of the car before I crashed it the first time in 2021.
At this point it was stock angle w/ coilovers, car was in limp mode because of no rear ABS sensors, seat and a steering wheel. Learned what snap oversteer was and crashed it.
Sledgehammered it straight again, kept driving it. Got some bosnian overfenders, put cut knuckles & slr lollipops in the car. Just focused on seat time for the second year. Did a complete refresh of all the cooling, power steering, etc. Bought replacement stuff to make the car look semi presentable minus paint and just kept driving it mismatched. Added a handbrake too.
Went too deep following my buddies and got lost in the sauce, hit the wall again. Broke more stuff. Fixed more stuff. Sledge hammered and went on my way.
The car did absolutely flawless for the 2022 season, and well all good things for me come to and end.
My buddy spun and I tried to avoid him but CTS-V's are way stronger than BMW's. I was at a major cross road of do I scrap this poor thing, or do I just fix it. And I didnt have the motivation to swap it, the car ran and drove as was and the alignment wasn't that far out? So what some more sledge hammering?
How the car looked fresh back from paint beginning of 2023. VW Tornado Red.
I got into it with a 350z, spun on entry totally my fault. Drove all season without so much as checking the oil lol. Started working with the local drift event to help organize and operate which has been a lot of fun. Got to drive 1 event somewhere else and that was it.
