Hi, I'm Mico. I'm from the Chicagoland area, and I've been waiting for the opportunity to make a build thread for YEARS. I was never doing anything to warrant a build thread when forums were relevant, and now I'm excited to share on this platform even if my car is an outlier. I've still been using my blog as a sort of build thread, but this FEELS different. I don't have a drift car, but I've been an avid spectator for about 17 years. I own a Milano Red 1999 Honda Civic Si. For a little background, I've owned this car since 2007, it was given to me by my aunt (who bought it new) as my first car, and I have been tracking it since 2013. This car has had about 10 different iterations during my ownership of it.
This is the car as it currently sits as I gather parts and funds for a restoration effort that will include a motor swap, body work/paint, new aero, wheel and tire package, brake upgrades, and safety equipment.

It's a very mildly set up car, but it's been purpose built and used for 10 years, and it definitely shows in its current condition. This car has given me a lot over the past couple decades, and it's now time to pay it back for the experiences and relationships it has given me. Future posts in this thread will include all pieces I have and will gather in the restoration process, as well as progress photos as efforts move forward. This is going to be a long process, but I hope you follow along as progress is made.
UPDATE 5/14/24
I decided to “freshen the car up” a bit this year.
I got an eBay front lip to make the OE bumper look like a Jblood bumper, APR GT3 mirrors, and some cheap canards. I then painted the lip, mirrors, and my rear spats to at least sorta match the car lol. This all paired with putting on my old red side skirts and putting my SSR TypeCs back on the car made a decent impact on the appearance with a minimal amount of effort. There’s still a lot of work left to do on this old machine, but I’m happy with how it looks for now. This set up will eventually all be track only stuff since most of it is beat up from 16 years of not being nice to this car. Real restoration efforts are on hold for now, but in the mean time, it can still be enjoyed!
most recent iteration is my favorite so far! good job, lip brings the front down nicely
