Hi everyone, this is my car below.
It's a 1995 1.8 liter Miata that I've owned and drifted since April 2012. I don't feel like my style in this car is suited for competitions, so it has only seen daily driving and open drift days for the entirety of it's time with me.
I'm really passionate about drifting and forming my own style, so this car is kind of my time capsule that picks up character from every era of driving, breaking, neglecting, and reviving that comes with 70,000 miles of daily drift car duty. Seat time is king, so drift what you're comfortable in and enjoy. I personally like a street legal style so that's what you'll find below but I've been through stance phase, big wing phase, and currently more aggressive oem+ I think.

I don't know where this forum is going to go long term, but I'm intrigued. I built this car in ClubRoadster days so I'm reminiscent of how forums used to be. After over 10 years of ownership I have a fair shake of knowledge about the MX5 chassis and drifting, so I'm willing to pay it forward to the next generation and document some stuff or help out.
I have fun plans for the powerplant next year, doing a BP4W swap with some sorta unique choices to go with it.
I'll try to document that here instead of anywhere else, maybe make an effort to also document some of the technical stuff in other threads too if I can count on the drift club to host them forever.
That being said I'm an adult with a busy life so please just be chill and we'll probably get along.

I told myself I would only add the half-done engine stuff to the build thread, so here's an update.
My new-to-me BP4W didn't turn out so lucky, so I'm taking the opportunity to make a couple upgrades while I'm in there.
To anyone reading this who has overbored - was it worth it for usable midrange torque?
The machine shop wants to overbore from 83mm to at least 83.5mm, I am considering going up to 84.5mm to bump overall displacement above 1.9L if I have to buy pistons anyways.
I'm really only chasing that small bump in power to pull me out of a dig on entry instead of bogging, but I don't want to sacrifice reliability.
Let me know if you have an opinion here.
Other than that, here is a little info on what is to come:
I'm going with 37mm Mikuni motorcycle carburetors for this engine. It's something I've always wanted to do, and I have some past experience with quad carbs.
I've got tons and tons of parts sitting on my shelf and pretty much everything sorted out except the engine bay and the engine machine work. Lots ahead of me if I want to make any events this year, but I'm excited to try something new after ~10 years off and on drifting with the fully stock engine.
That's all for now, I'll keep trying to update the forum build thread but it's not very convenient so far since I can't very well use my phone.
