What's up guys. My names Jay, I'm 26 and I'm originally from Detroit Michigan. I've owned a few different cars but the 240sx hatchback always was a car I enjoyed staring at and Fawning over.
Typically, they are not too difficult to create a visually pleasing example. With that, a lot of it lies in the overall execution. Atleast, in my opinion. My car is rough around the edges I'll admit, but typically makes me happy when I get to enjoy streeting it around .
Me and my twin brother have been infatuated with cars in general since we were young but especially very low cars. when I was about 14/15 years old was when I really decided I had to have a 240sx. It was a distant thing as I had 3-4 Hondas before and still had to learn to drive manual. I had
No money really so i never got my first one until i was around 20. I'll post a couple pictures from the past of my previous hatch and some of the other piles I've owned/own.
Just wanted to introduce myself mainly. When I get some downtime, I'll go through where I'm at with my black hatch and what my plans are for the car. Sorry if all these pictures confuse anyone lol

Just wanted to update sorta starting from the beginning with the black hatch.
Picked it up in 2018 with a welded diff, some isr coils that had the front lower mounts flipped and made the front have positive camber. 14x7 longchamps, single slammer.
I quickly realized that this slick top was surprisingly clean despite its rather shitty appearance compared to my red car that I patched a bunch of rust on. So I took the good parts and immediately started parting the red hatch out.
Sold it as a non rolling chassis to my friend, it was crashed and then I was given it back for free and then it sat for a year or so collecting dust. Ended up giving it back to my buddy for free to make space in my garage .
So, I went through and did every bushing on the car and tossed the gktech rcc kit on. I also at this point experimented with multiple steering setups on the car. I had gktech drop knuckles for a bit up front but wasn't super keen on them. Picked up a set of fineline hotroad sides and rear. Also, scored some cbr hurricane mirrors and good spec 17" xt7s that never made it to the streets.
One of the rear knuckle sets of bushings you get the idea. These were all es poly bushings nothing really special.
I continued going down the list of maintenance and did basically a lot of external stuff to the single cam. Replaced all the cooling system components, cheap aluminum rad, gktech clutch fan, deleted a host of shit under the single can intake and just overall gave it a mini refresh because it ran fine and had good compression which left me with no reason to crack it open (or so I thought)
Scooped some Ganador led tails for cheap and switched back in forth between kouki tails a few times. Bought some 18x10+45 model 5s painted in a horrendous blue to put with the bronze 17s I already had to run a 17/18 setup under stock metal. Test fitted the shitty wing and remembered how ugly the hatch was when I got the car. It Was plastered with probably a inch or inch and a half of bondo(always a great sign) the reasoning was the po tried to shave the third brake light and warped the fuck out of the hatch. So I half assed repaired it. Cars paint was treacherous anyway so it just had to be good enough. I had some really shitty Minerva's too. I rolled the rear quarters to accommodate 18x10s in a odd offset couple with like a 10mm spacer to get the barrels away from the body.
So I got the wheels all powdercoated and things were starting to look up. I had planned to take this car all the way to final bout gallery and street drive it up 7 hours or so to Wisconsin. The prep was in full effect. I do want to mention that throughout a lot of this time I was street drifting here and there and I did have a couple mishaps I never really documented.
Anyway, model 5s from powder
Picked up shitty $50 bondo fenders from a local and painted them to match. along with that copped a zeta 1 from jyworld, 330 classic nardi, nismo urethane gt knob and some raybrigs.
Around this time I Picked up the buddy club p1's 18x9+30 iirc
Tossed the skirts on for a lil test fit please again ignore my shit stack of stickers and the mono blade. Must of smoked too much weed when I came up with the ideas.(would of been much better without what o had going on)
Prepped and Painted the kit to the best of my abilities
Stopped in Chicago after final bout and got some
burgers with my twin brother and our girls
Thought my diff or something was whining like crazy. Turns out I was just being a paranoid pansy
So continuing on, that event I mentioned I noticed I had oil pressure issues. I had a pbm gauge that monitored oil pressure, water temp, voltage. I ran like 5w40 rotella in the car which was plenty heavy for what I was doing with the car. I was seeing oil pressure get down to 6-7 psi at idle. So, when I got it back in the garage I hooked up an oil pressure gauge and verified it against my gauge and it was true. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to do the timing chains and a oil pump.
unlike the dohc, the single cam uses an external oil pump driven off the distributor. So when I pulled the timing cover I noticed a guide had a couple inches missing off it
Installed a Martin industries ratcheting tensioner, new timing chain. All new oem rocker arms as well because it had some valvetrain noise. At this point this was more or less a experiment. I honestly should have let it be and conk out when it inevitably happened. I ended up pulling the engine and obviously finding the pickup tube full of old guide material. Tore the motor down and found some scoring on some of the bearings. I had two dohc ka's lying around and a s13 sr20 that needed a rebuild so I just opted to put another ka in it.
I had some old paint that matched the car so I decided while the motor was out to give it a quick spray along with stitch welding some parts of the bay. These are definitely some things that I will come back and address again when the car is sprayed eventually. But for now, it will do. I did prime the bay and stuff I just couldn't find the pic nor did I feel the need to show you guys something you've seen a million times I'm sure
