Hey my name is cole, I'm from canada. I live in the united states now (mistake). after the cressida wagon i built with drift union proved to be an uncontrollable mess for a first time drifter...
I bought this s13 in august of 2011 to get some seat time. i wasnt really a nissan guy so it was just meant to be a stepping stone, a placeholder, until i could get back into another toyota.
at the time i felt like i paid way too much (2k cad), it was auto, single jingle, and its fair share of rust underneath, but i knew i was likely gonna crash it anyway so if it drove that was enough for me. first order of business was to 5 speed swap, coils, wheels, and a welded diff.
second order of business was drive
after a couple rain events and wet floors i found a hole and made it bigger before i made it smaller. can you tell it was my first time welding?
did some other mods too
made the mistake of ruining a trunk for a tire rack
so i drove and crashed
drove
and crashed
hard parked
drove to the track and back
got stuck on stuff
cleaned up a lower km motor for it
street drifted it
cruised with the homies
as i grew more comfortable with driving i started thinking about looks a tiny bit more. found some oem canadian chuki side skirts
had some good days
had some bad days
in 2013 i drove a fuck ton, added some modded knuckles and a 4.36 diff and the car was a certified reliable shredder for just a single cam
after 2013 she was looking a little haggard so i did my best to clean things up a bit
in 2014 i did some competitions and won some competitions and i guess put an r32 gtr front lip on?
did a ton of local events and started to really stretch my cars legs. driving all over bc and the pnw and drove all the way down to 2 bash 2 future where i met max and dom of goldstar fame
got to drive with joe ayala and he ripped a hole in my quarter lol
added an evo 1 wing to the car and did some more comp stuff
this honestly was and still is my favourite stage of the car
decided i was going to drive asb 2014 so swapped to dual cam so i could actually make it around the track and got caged up so i could pass tech
had an incredible raod trip to california, drifted a bunch, had so much fun i forgot to change my oil when i swapped motors the month prior
was an expensive tow home to canada
so i decided to come back harder better faster stronger with a budget high comp ka
tested it out and it worked pretty good
so i put some fiberglass fenders on and packed it up to drive across the country to my new home in massachusetts
since then ive driven less and less and the car has become progressively more neglected but ive done a few cool things. put in some supermade lights
made my motor go doot doot
got a veilside rear lip
proceeded to crack the rings with a bad tune on the high comp itb ka
slapped something back together and drove it to final bout with my friends even though i wasnt drifting
drifted a tiny bit more more
gave up for a little bit and parted it out, sold the shell to a homie who just had his s13 written off
imported a silvia
traded the silvia for my car back plus cash and bought a celica and turned my daily driver cressida into a d-car so i could put some real time and effort into making my car nice again
and so began the year of body work
all that work to make it white again, but added the bomex usa stuff all around. i wasnt super stoked on the quality of the mirrors or the front lip but the skirts and rear valence were fine
took me no time at all to destroy the lip
taped it back together, crashed into a gaurd rail streeting, bondo'd it back together for a drift event and broke it agian lmao
got a veilside lip locally to replace it
got some good go tails and jdm bomex mirrors too
then i got an ozba front bar and a b-wave wing and finally rounded out the 90's ish style i had been chasing the past 10 years
oh yeah, at some point i swapped in an n/a sr20 (mistake)
and made purple signal lenses
it drifted fine-ish, but i miss the torque of a ka
then i popped the head gasket on the sr
and its been sitting like this ever since
Awesome story, really enjoyed listening to it on the sil80 mania podcast!
Cool to see all the pics of the car progressing with time, during the single jingle days did you do any mods to get a bit more power out of the engine or was it completely stock?
Man memory lane. I remember you trying to help me figure out the wiring on my Yashio factory water temp gauge on ig. I also, remember seeing you do all the body work on this. Super sick history on this car
hell yeah Cole - your coupe is legendary 😎
One of my favs
Glad to see this tumblr build still going
the goat.
What a story, glad you still have it and have all these pics of those times!
This car has always fasinated me with all the stories and history youve put behind the wheel. Forever a favorite
This car has an absolute saga of a story. Glad it's still in your life..
