hello my name is jonathan and this is my current car.
i crashed my previous s14 a month before final bout ssw in 2020 and i had to basically assemble a new car in a little under a 3 weeks.
i crashed Feb 15 2020 and Final bout was the 15th of march a impossible task but it had to be done.
that k wall was moved about 45 degrees lol.
i somwhow got accepted into a event i had only dreamed of attending. see i got into actually drifting late my first ever event driving my s14 was in 2018 and before that i had only tried a single event in a s13 that drove so bad it was basically autocross due to how bad the car struggled to kick out on blown coilovers and huge tires on stock s13 wheels. so yea this was very important to me. i looked all over california for a shell and managed to find one in banning ca which was a 7 hour drive. i drove to pick it up march 1st. and got a great deal on a base s14 but a runner.
i paid 2600 for a running s14 with some old stance coils. drove home asap and got to work swapping everything over from my crashed car into this one. had to order new cooling parts and have them shipped to me asap. shout out the guys at final bout and parts shop max for the help and fast shipping.
pics of damage
got everything ordered and got to work taking the new shell apart to start the process of getting it together. time was not in my favor but my local friends came in clutch to help yank out the stock ka and begin the process. i did the engine removal while another did the interior swap.
quick degrease and it was ready for its new heart.
the swap was fast but i ran into some electrical gremlins due to the crash and the fact that this car was so base half the fuse box relays were missing. my alternator was not charging. i was starting to panic due to only having a couple days left so i called off work and with the help of Lamar who basically coached me over the phone i managed to get the alternator to start charging my battery and not die on me.
made some friends while swapping coilovers and installing suspension. i swear theres a couple still by the subframe.
less than a week before the event but i atleast had a running car again. now the real crunch time begins.
had the car somewhat in 1 peice. i got lucky and found a works9 bumper in the bay area and managed to convince the seller to sell me his oem kouki hood.
with 3 day left before the event i managed to scruff the car and lay on a quick coat of good ol rustoleum gloss white on the body.
3 days left and i still had to drive 6 hours to the event!
end result paint was still tacky the rain was coming down but it was time to load up and show up
i had to leave a day before the event. justin luckily hooked me up with a passenger side kouki headlight literally last minute. installed it at the pits the day of the event.
car still had no alignment since i threw new tie rods and suspension but d chen managed to round up some socal guys and they aligned my car in the pits the morning of the event. ( i owe you a beer yuta and dchen)
was it woth it?
fuck yea it was.
car drove great the whole day and had zero issues even tho it was basically a brand new car.
the car now looks different and has a new color change but in the end ill always have a special feeling towards the days it was white with a blue hood lol
fast forward a couple year and its time to prep for final bout again.
i decide its time for actual paint. i drive down to socal and pick up a new rear bumper and side skirts and prep the car for paint.
i drop off the car to julian and let him work magic. he gave me a idea on a color and details. i agree and order the paint and primer. he manages to paint the car and have it ready for me to pick up with plenty of time.
im blown away and grateful my car is actually painted my favorite color
car looked great and i was stoked.
now to trailer it home and being working on the details.
i had ordered some decals when the car was still white and decided to say fuck it and install them instead of just throwing them away.
i had already ordered a new set of wheels and got some origin wheels.
was happy with the look for the event and was ready early for once.
destroyed my front bumper and found out that works9 line was dicontinued by duraflex. =(
found a vertex style bumper locally, drove to julians and had him paint it to match and installed some canards i had purchased earlier.
so far this is basically the end for now. heres a interior post
part 2 later on.
goodnight
So badass that you slapped that whole car together in a few months and had it work so well. Great work
