Hey there, finally decided after years of creeping zilvia, posting threads on miata forums, and getting bullied of FC forums, that I can finally write up some sort of build thread overall and for my current S13.
Started off in 2014 with some generic stance Miata 'builds' and meeting my now best friend Frank, @flickmybic55, up at a VW car show called Wolfsgart. He had a 5.0 swapped coupe and it SOLD me on schassis, yet it will take me a couple years to commit. He convinced me to come to a Club Loose North event and just ride along with some buddies of his, including Kieth and his Turbo Miata. I went home that day and bought a BEGI turbo kit, raised my car and dove down the ugly path of drifting.
Then parted it out and build 1JZ FC. That was fun
I could have a full post just on my past drift cars and all the little things I dealt and did with them but I wanna truly focus on my S chassis. So the my 1j FC ended up spitting its rear main out and blowing up. That same week I had purchased my first S13 Coupe that was NA KA with a 4.3 and some coil overs
Drove four laps and the noise we thought was just the timing chain rattling was actually just playing knock knock jokes. So swapped in another stock KA I had laying around and Frank spent like 20 hours welding the rusty as f chassis back together, we made it out for one event with the three of our friend group running NA KA piggy coupes on small wheels and it was a BLAST! But a I wanted more.
Winter came for us up in New England, and in that time I parted out the FC, and purchased an S13 SR20 to toss in to the coupe along with some paint and just a bunch of suspension bits like bushings.
Also Frank and Anton decided we should match as well so we just all happen to be LG1 and a saab grey for the two tone haha. This was the official start of our team Stargazer, which was just a name I had used when making products and goods on the side of my career.
Drove all of this year, 2020 as much as the world allowed and we ended up down at Englishtown for the Bloodmasters Invitational. Three laps into the three day weekend of driving I got a little too horny and ended up crashing with a buddy from another team. This pushed my B pillar in drastically far and totalled the shell. ALTHOUGH the alignment was still good so I continued to drive the weekend along with another 2 events after back at the home track.
Pulled it into my shop basement and started looking for a new shell.
Behold, the current s13.
Car came with only subframes, no wiring, no front, no sunroof, nothing. I was very motivated to begin this reshell and for the first month or two I had done a ton of work bring the old subframes over with updating them by welding in braces and getting some fresh arms..... Then it sat.
In the meantime, I started my own business in the building above my shop and I would only go downstairs onces every 4 months or so to reset a breaker in the electrical. I had become bery burnt out of working on cars and my money situation had changed drastically.
I slowly collected some goodies.
That was until BMI 2023 invites went out and we surprisingly got the invite to come back after the hiatus that covid had created on the event. This is where we invited Matt Brown to join us as a fourth and he began to waste his weekends away helping me build an entire car in less than a month.
Some how it was pulled off and heres a photo dump of the rest of the year.
