Hey everyone. Here is a small set of photos I took at Final Bout 6 with my Minolta Maxxum 5000. If anybody else took photos of Final Bout on film, feel free to contribute to the thread!
I'm normally a full-time driver at events but love to play with cameras now and again. In no way do I consider myself a media person, it's just fun shooting photos that I would want to see my car in. I feel being a driver gives a unique perspective on what determines a good drifting photo, and I typically try to emulate the style of photo you'd see from MSC Challenge. It was hard to find the ideal angles from the spectator viewing areas at USAIR but did the best to work with what I had. Enjoy!
Best for first. Jack from team SL SPIRIT. This is the perfect street-spec 86. Easily one of my favorite photos to date and wish I had taken more from this spot.
I remember taking this shot of Bai's car, it was my first shot of the weekend on this roll.
There were a lot of photos I took of Juan's car. Lowest functional drift car in the country and you can't change my mind. Riding in this thing is an incredible experience. It doesn't make sense! Watch out for your coilovers when this guy is around, you might have to remeasure them.
Karoshi stacked up in the finals
Front Street stacked up in the finals. I'm pretty sure Stoneback is back there somewhere??
AND Proceed stacked up in the finals. Glad I wasn't a judge for this one. The driving was incredible from these top teams. Watching Front Street and Proceed battle it out as a Chicago vs. New York street fight was unreal. Huge congrats to Proceed for taking the win!
Love the color on PJ's car
Josh and Zach battling on advanced reverse.
Not even a moment after they made contact.. woops.
Brandon and Leigh out for a jam session. Both of these guys are incredible chase drivers. Love seeing the passengers grinning ear to ear.
A couple of static shots to close out. I love how this one includes nearly every one of the key staff members.
This one feels like it was taken in the early 2000s. The guy in the foreground wearing an Option shirt really sells the vibe.
There's a lot more I took but these are the shots that stick out to me.
Film has been a fun adventure. Every time I get the scans back it's like reliving the moment. I encourage all of you who regularly actually do media to pick up a film camera to shoot an event with one of these days. There's so much more intent behind every photo, rather than firing away a burst and picking the best. No greater feeling than seeing how motion photos turn out better than expected.
Awsome coverage! Also I'm pretty sure I've jammed with you on assetto lol.
